Wedding Dessert Bar Ideas

Dessert bars are becoming increasingly more popular as couples seek delicious alternatives to a traditional multi-tiered cake at their wedding--- and it's obvious why! In addition to providing your guests with a wide variety of  fun and delicious options, a dessert display is also huge design element and a way bring together the theme of your entire event.

No two dessert tables are the same and we are having a fun time embracing this growing trend and bringing the sweet vision of our clients to life. The options are literally endless and if you are considering a dessert bar for your upcoming Charleston wedding, here is some inspiration! Let's make that dessert table the star of the show!

Why have just one cake when you can have three ( or more)?  Instead of having all of the tiers stacked, consider having a dessert table with separate tiers! If you were torn between different designs/flavors, this is the perfect way to incorporate everything your heart desires.

With this lavish cupcake tower, our couple wanted a small cutting cake to preserve tradition and several different cupcake flavor options for their guests. How cute is the ribbon to identify each flavor?

One of our favorite dessert tables that we have created! This is the perfect example of how creative you can get with your dessert options and serve a variety. The Peach Iced Tea Macarons  and Banana Puddin' Cookie Sandwiches were the perfect compliment to this southern barn reception.

YES, you can actually have your cake and eat it too! A small rustic buttercream cake makes the most delicious centerpiece for this indoor dessert bar that has a little of everything.

This Italian inspired dessert spread is a great way to incorporate heritage with a swanky twist. Yes that is a cannoli layer cake you see!

If you decide to only serve cake, have fun with the flavor! Use the season or your favorite dessert as inspiration for a flavor. This Olive Oil Cake layered with a Orange Buttercream and Cranberry Jam has been one of our most creative cakes yet! You can never go wrong with a beautiful naked cake. How perfectly does that cranberry jam match the linen?!

Mini naked cakes and pops of gold--- enough said! Skip the cake slices with these mini unfrosted beauties topped with fresh florals and fruit.

We hope you enjoyed this post and that we've inspired you to have a dessert bar at your very own Charleston wedding! Don't forget to comment and let us know what you think about this post!

Creative Wedding Cake Ideas- Wedding Cakes in Charleston

 Happy Friday!

Charleston Wedding Cakes

So... about this naked wedding cake! We have received a lot of comments and positive feedback and it just so happens to be one of my favorites to date. I typically don't gravitate towards lighter and fruity desserts, but I'll take a slice (or two) of this and a glass of champagne any day!

We collaborated with Two If By Sea for this amazing styled shoot and the inspiration was a rustic, but very romantic southern winter wedding in Charleston. Fall is the most popular season to get married here in Charleston, however a slice of this cake will surely make you reconsider.

Whenever I am creating a new dessert I start by thinking of the main flavor I want to showcase and then I jot down other flavors that will compliment it. I immediately thought of olive oil cake to compliment the tart and slightly sweet cranberry jam that the cake is layered with. Orange zest is used throughout the cake and in the buttercream. If you look closely you can see the flecks of orange zest! This Olive Oil Cake is the perfect balance of fruity, tart, citrus, and sweet!

I hope this cake inspires you to think outside of the box when brainstorming wedding cake flavor ideas. Don't be afraid to have your favorite dessert transformed into a cake flavor. A naked cake specifically will showcase all of the components and makes for a sexy and unique presentation. After all, your wedding day will be unforgettable and your cake should be too!
